Chesapeake and Ohio Canal Towpath, Dickerson, MD 20842, USA
Dickerson, Virginia 20842

It's nothing special, but a nice free campground nonetheless. We biked up the towpath in mid-December and had the place to ourselves. There's one porta-potty, one firepit with grill, one picnic table, and a ton of room to pitch tents (though it's a little far from the river itself, so no direct views). Note that the water pump was off for the season when we were there, so if you're coming in winter, you'll need to bring your own water. It's also just a mile or two south from the ferry, so a good stopping point if you're coming from/to Virginia by way of Leesburg.

Clean water, grill, fire pit, picnic table and port-a-john.
